Politics and religion

We exist as creatures of our time. Our beliefs, our morals, indeed the way we think are conditioned by the society we live in and how it operates. Religion is a key part of this. Indeed religion (as distinct from being spiritual) can be thought of as just politics being exercised by religious leaders instead of political leaders. In some countries there is precious little separation between these.

I find it hard to understand people who take little interest in politics. There is little that anybody does that is not in some way affected by politics. If you don’t believe that imagine living as a slave, for your freedom to do things is as a result of political decisions.

What is fascinating about politics is how some people gain and use power while others are manipulated. And how logic and truth can easily become casualties in the pursuit of particular ends by the powerful.

This section of my writings is devoted to trying to expose the inconstancies, illogicalities and plain wrongness of much that happens in the realms of politics and religion. And where it exists, to promote the good.
